Interesting: Civ V will play (DirectX 9), but Civ Beyond Earth doesn't, even in big screen mode. I'm going to try re-installing DirectX 11, just to see what happens ...
Please someone help us!!
Is the Steam support team also reading this threat?
Help!!!
[POSSIBLE FIX]: I reinstalled the Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable Package 2012 x64 & x86 and Repaired them and my games are finally launching again!
Thus, what I recommend you people to do is try to find what type of the Microsoft Visual Studio you should own to play the games that are NOT launching, install them and repair them (the repair part is not necessary, but I recommend you to do it to be 100% sure that it is OK).
Good Luck with this fix! :)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012
and
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
For VC, use X64 if you have a 64-bit system or x86 if you have a 32-bit system.
For DirectX, use the DXSetup executable.
Hope that helps!
Anyone found a solution yet other than rolling back the update?
I'm having the same problem with Ori and the Blind Forest (original game and definite edition) but there are no distributables in the file so nothing I can do there unfortunately.
The music plays, the cursor changes design, when i hit various buttons (escape, up/down arrows) I can hear what sounds like different menu options being selected but I can't see anything.
I've also tried changing various settings (by "rightclick of the game application in the steamapp folder-> properties-> compatibility") such as changing the compatibility mode, overriding DPI scaling... etc. but nothing seems to work
I mean, I BOUGHT this new system so I could play online Steam games.! If I have to pay the Geek Squad another $80 to fix this, I may be billing back to HP or Microsoft.
So, did anyone come up with any other ideas on this?
