Family sharing requiring to log on account every time windows restarts
I'm sharing my games with my girlfrend.

I denied logging with my account on her PC, because I don't trust anybody else's security and I don't wanna risk having my account banned or hacked. Instead of that I used family sharing feature.

She gave me her password - I was against it and suggested her to not trust my PC's security either - and I logged it on my PC. By doing that I was able to authorize her account to play my games, and so forth she's able to play them on her PC without me ever logging my account on it.

But every time she restarts her Windows she loses that authorization. And I need to log her back on my PC. The pure action of logging in her account on my PC re-enables the authorization for her to play on her PC. I don't need to check anything or do anything else.

But that's annoying, having to keep logging in her account and back to mine. And that when I'm not playing, because when I am I don't accept stopping the game to do all the work and come back to gaming.

Is this issue design intended? Am I really required to re-authorize her every time she restarts her PC? Isn't there a way to authorize her for longer periods?

i've never had this problem before, but i've never done it "one way" before.

That is when i family shared with my brother i logged into my steam account on his computer, and he logged into his steam account on my computer... and we authorised each other.

i didn't even realise you could do it "one way".

My thought is that you both doing it "one way" is the problem..

OR

She has some sort of CCleaner or other program on her computer that's messing up the authorisation (or YOU have something like that on your computer).

OR

One or both of you hasn't shut down Steam properly after the authorisation. That is to say you aren't "exiting" out of Steam properly before shutting down your computers - and are instead just shutting off your computers and letting Windows "force shut down" the Steam process. Rather than you manually "exiting" Steam from within the Steam program first. Failing to exit Steam manually at least once after changing Steam settings.. can often mess up settings in Steam (and other programs too). So people should get into the habit of properly exiting programs before shutting down their computer systems.

But those are just my guesses. It could be something else that is the problem.
BUT~ i dunno why you want to family share with your girlfriend anyways if you don't trust going over to her house and logging into your Steam account on her computer. Why date someone who has bad computer security! that's grounds to break up with someone!! :hee: (just kidding!!)

Well I can assure it's not related to my shutting down. It happens when she does while I'm still. And I've never seem the issue when I do, at least for now.

I'll ask her if she's waiting all apps to shut down by themselves, and to close Steam Client from the exit command.

This has happened so many times and repeatedly that I doubt it's some sort of incompatibility with another app. It'd not happen in this predictable way.

But yeah, this is not some email account. I have hundreds of games. Steam >>>>>>>> PSN regarding banning, but even so I don't like the idea of having my passwords out there.
