No Sound Through Headphones When playing The Forest/Shadow Tactics
Hi

Very new to PC gaming, i'm having issues with getting game sound on the above two games. I have no speakers on my system only use headphones with no mic. I can play Arma 3, Dayz with sound no problem, but for some reason nothing out of the other games.

I have tried the run as admin fix and this still does not work. I'm running windows 10.

Any help for a PC noob would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Matt.

Does it show that you're using headphones in ingame options? Do you have an Audio Card (Internal or External, internal being like every other component that's inside your pc while external is small like a USB), are your drivers up to date?

No it dose'nt show that im using headphones in game. i have an internal audio card. i plug the headphones in the jack ontop of the tower. Checked the drivers and they tell me they are up to date.

Just tried Doom, i have audio when the game is going through it's title screen but as soon as the game starts it goes silent!

Check if your drivers are up to date and try to connect your headphones to the back side of the pc.

Hi Frost,

I've tried that too. booted a game up and tried the headphones in all the jacks at the rear of the pc.

1- Please try to verify game files
2- Go to playback devices making sure that all connected devices work properly
3- While the game is running go to volume mixer making sure where the game is placing itself [Which sound device is it connecting itself to]

If those steps don't work, I will be providing a more advanced steps.

Hi Vannys,

1- How do i verify game files?

2- all devices work correctly. i get sound while playing spotify, Youtube etc.

3- when i run The Forest and open up the volume mixer i have, from left to right.

Device: Headphones
Applications: system sounds, Steam, The Forest in that order with all volumes set to max.

I mean that when i open the volume mixer pop up i see that under the device header it says headphones which has a volume slider under neath it. which is set to max volume. to the right of that it then shows the applications that are running. each one with a volume slider below them.

Do you see the game apart from those applications?

yes the game is showing up in that pop up.

I Have now also verified all the game files.

SOLVED: I have now sorted this issue. It seems i didn't have the drivers installed for my mother board., I went onto the MSI website and downloaded the audio drivers and hey presto i now have sound on all games.

Thanks for all the help guys

Matt
