Authenticator Code Entry Window does Not Appear after Login
This is about the Authenticator Code Entry Window - (the place where you enter your authenticator Code on your PC after login.)

<My recent experience attempting to login through my secondary computer which I use with Steam about once a week. I login with my primary computer without issue nearly everyday.>

I had to log in over 5 times before it finally came up. I even tried restarting the computer and turning off virus protection. This has happened before but never like this. This is a Persistent and Repeatable error that I have experienced on multiple PC's.

I was receiving the code on my phone and the login was correct but no Window to enter the code (no entry window). I would have to cancel the login and restart the steam app - reenter the password and no authentication window again.

Why is the authentication entry window not popping up after I login?

This could be security risk.

The authenticator code isn't asked upon login if you store your credentials on the computer.

I only ever have to fill mine in if I use [Change User...] or I nuke the Steam folder for whatever reason.

If you're saying that upon re-entering your password upon login you still don't get the window, then something odd is going on, indeed.

Yes, Thank you for your reply. I know about that but I do not store those credentials on some of my other PC's because they are used by others. However, to clarify,

1) I log in with Password
2) I receive Code Notification on Phone
3 ) -no place to enter Code pops up on PC

This is frustrating because it sort of locks me out of my own account unless I save my password credentials on the PC.

As simple as this might be, have you tried validating the client files, should something be wrong with those? If you're using a custom skin, does this occur with vanilla skin?

Basically, you could exit Steam (top left: [Steam > Exit])
Go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\

Remove everything except
  • Steam.exe
  • steamapps -folder
  • userdata -folder

If games are being shared to said computer, you should also not remove
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config\config.vdf

Restart Steam.

Ok, I will try validating first. I use vanilla skins on all the secondary PC's.

Thanks again.

-not sure what to say to the last 2 postees -LucianYT and 18821880773- except -I have hope for you.
