Library Background images won't show
Hello,

I had to reinstall Steam for various reasons recently, and since then Steam hasn't displayed background images that appear in the library screen. They stay blank unless I manually take screenshots while playing. Does anybody know how to remedy this?

P.S - I know this isn't a major issue but it still bothers me and I'd love to have those backgrounds colorful again instead of the bland look they have now.

Hm... Well, usually the backgrounds will go through your screenshots, when you reinstalled steam, your screenshot library wiped clean (although your screenshots are fine).

So, that's a fix, although there should be default screenshots playing through, so that's weird.
I know. The default backgrounds aren't showing for anything. My screenshots before I reinstalled are there and they still show, but the games I haven't played or bothered taking a sccreenshot in no longer show the images.

Funnily enough, when I went to a public gaming cafe yesterday and logged into Steam, the images were showing. So I dunno what's up with that.

Ok, this cache checked, now check network settings, firewall, and security tab, if steam installed by default path (Program files)

What am I looking for?
Also, my Firewall is managed by Avast, I've set it to Ask me when an app wants to access the internet, and Steam.exe has been allowed to.
Goto Steam Client Settings,
Goto Webrowser Clear Cookies and Download Cache

Goto Steam Client Settings,
Goto Downloads Delete Download Cache

Try these and post back s others can help!!!
Cheers and Good Luck Gaming!!!

Tried 'em. Nothing worked.
Perhaps I should reinstall Windows?

uninstall Avast and it's VPN client than do
Then, execute as Administrator a resetnetwork.cmd command file with the following content:
ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /release timeout /t 120 ipconfig /renew netsh int ipv4 reset >c:\resetlog4.txt netsh int ipv6 reset >c:\resetlog6.txt netsh winsock show catalog >c:\winsock.txt netsh winsock reset catalog reboot
Open notepad, copy-paste this^^code and save, rename from .txt to .cmd or .bat
Ipconfig.txt, resetlog4.txt, resetlog6.txt, winsock.txt - this is backup of network settings and logs for rollback, if something went wrong

if not helped, check router's settings

after fix, you can re-install avast, but add steam in white-list
