Did it work for you?
I did it yesterday and it worked fine, took 10gb off the download and I was able to play no problems straight away.
Nothing to be lost from it either.
Didn't work for me :/
I started to install Injustice 2 and that let Steam create a folder. Then I hit uninstall. Then I quit Steam and dropped the beta files into the newly created folder. After that when you try to install again to the same folder it will discover the beta files.
I had installed about 8GB worth but wanted to try out this. After doing what you said, it only reduced what was downloaded to 6.5GB
If you already have the download in progress it won't work.
It worked for me and others, as you can see.
Whenever you choose to install a game, if its folder exists, it will say "Discovering existing files for <game name>".
This will take some time, since it has to check the files' contents, and if there's any missing or non-matching files, it will download them.
