Disable Controller Support
ok, so this will seem like a weird question, but is there a way to disable native controller support with Steam games, here's what i mean.

i have a 360 controller, but many games have had their native controller support bugged to hell by the devs, for instance Prey had awesome controller support, then a recent update bugged it to hell and it looks like they are in no rush to fix it. also games like Oblivion which has controller support, but it just straight up sucks. so is there a way i can disable the native controller support with these games so that i can just use my controller alongside programs like XPadder and joy2key and just bypass all that crap.

and before someone says it, i know i can use the Keyboard and Mouse, but i want to use a controller, so let's keep this on topic please, any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

It depends on the game.

Some games it can be disabled in an .ini file.
eg. In Unreal Engine games you find the [gamename]engine.ini file and set "AllowJoystickInput=1" to "AllowJoystickInput=0".
This file can be in different places for different games.
eg. [USER]\Documents\My Games\Dishonored\DishonoredGame\Config\DishonoredEngine.ini
You can often find config file location info on pcgamingwiki.com if you can't find the file.

If that doesn't work out might be able to use x360ce.
Get installers from x360ce.com, there are 32bit and 64bit versions.
Run the appropriate x360ce executable in the same folder as the games executable (.exe) file.
It will ask to create a .dll file, click create.
Then click next to auto setup the config, then click finish.
Now click Clear to clear all settings and then save.
So this is now going to emulate a controller that has no bindings, thus disabling the controller at the game level, but not at the system level.
You should now be able to use controller mapping software to setup your controller.

Also checkout antimicro at github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro
It's similar to xpadder / joy2key, and is free and open source, works quite well.

Hope this helps.

Use this guide, it works with pretty much every game:
