Community Hub for Games - See current active players?

I don't entirely understand this feature and hope that someone can enlighten me
So basically when you visit a games community hub, sometimes you can see a " X players currently online" in the top part written in green text..
But sometimes its not there??

Like what are the requirements for that stat to be shown? I especially prefer doing this when I debate with myself over buying an Early Access game. This can give me a good idea of the active playerbase for example at a certain time period. While I understand there are other means of getting that information Id prefer to see it that way.

So can anyone clarify to me why it does sometimes show and sometimes now?

If you use CHROME just install "Enhanced Steam" Among other very useful things it will show you the player statistic on the shop site for each game.

Thanks alot, though I know Enchanced Steam already and I still prefer to use the client rather than the browser version of steam.
Im really just curious as to why it sometimes shows me the active players and sometimes it doesnt..
