LP2 steam key Redeemed & installed, 25 digit product key invalid for GFWL

I redeemed a steam key for lost planet 2 and installed. Game starts right up and asks for 25 digit key to connct to live. After I enter the key the error message I get is "Can't sign in because your product key is invalid. please enter a valid product key. I contacted microsost and they say the key does not show up.
I know The game is old and I know "Games For Windows Live" is done for But
I bought the game to play online with friends that are playing it
Is there any way get any help from steam?

Several other people all telling Capcom that their keys aren't working for GFWL there too.
