steamos installer on thinkpad x230: black screen with some garbage after enter

Hi, I have a thinkpad x230 laptop and I would like to install steamos there. I've enabled UEFI boot mode and put USB with unpacked SteamOSInstaller.zip files, as written there: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6372-YZBN-3066

The problem is that after I select boot from USB screen becomes black and nothing is visible. Ok, I was waiting for a long time and nothing happened. I've put Enter blindly and I've noticed that something started to happen: some garbage is visible on top of the screen and it changes a bit with time.


thinkpad x230 has intel graphics.

Is this a known issue? How to report/debug?

Ok, now I've tried version 2.98 and unsupported alchemist and both had issues. Although I've managed to see boot loader, after I press install OS it just hangs with either some garbage on screen or alchemist with error:

error: no suitable mode found.
