Possible to make disc?
I downloaded a rather large game (It took 2 days to download, I have slow internet) and i was wondering if there was any way i could make a retail disc for it to install it from?
I don't want to use up an USB and i have a bunch of old discs lying around.
Thanks.

Steam --> Backup
Burn backup files on disc.

Done.

You could make a backup of the game files and burn that (Top left: [Steam > Backup and Restore Games > Backup currently installed programs]), or just burn the files onto disc directly.

Although, those files become obsolete pretty fast given they're updated frequently.

Is there a way to make the game install off of the disc??

Steam --> Backup and Restore

It's not rocket science. What sense would it make to be able to create a backup and not being able to use it?
But as Teutep said, games tend to get patched making those backup files outdated.

The built in backup isn't "useless", it's just an easy way to basically get the same effect.

You can certainly use the installed game files instead and make your own "3rd party installer", basically creating your own backup/restore feature. However, there is probably no ready-to-use product on the market to do that for you.

I know this is an old forum, but am I able to burn a game onto a disc and keep it as a backup and also store it in a game case so it looks pleasing? And if I want to install/play the game from the disc would I be able to make steam scan the game to show that is it reinstalled and update it if needed? Is putting the game files back onto the pc slow? Like is it basically extracting the files back onto the computer like a .rar using winrar extracting to your computer.

You can make a backup to a dvd and then use steam's restore function to restore games from the dvd

Yes, that thread is old, but your question was answered two years ago.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
