Steam making CPU fan freak out?@!
I never thought I'd ever have to post on the steam forum but wtf, after googling around it feels like I'm the only guy on the planet who's having this problem. After a windows 10 or steam update today whenever I open steam my CPU fan freaks out, runs to 100% and back again every 3 seconds. My CPU usage itself is completely normal, no real usage from steam at all, disk, networks, everything is normal. Every other program runs 100% without freaking my fan out, tested with Epic launcher/Fortnite, Origin/BF1, all fine. Even tried turning intel stepping off (the thing that sets CPU Hz low when not in use), but still load steam without anything else, CPU fan freaks out, close it and it goes back to normal, wtf is going on@?!?@!?

You are not alone others have this issue, myself included.
I tried to restore my system to 2017-10-09 and removed the latest windows update and removed steam.
Removed the fan and launched steam without it. With the fan not running i noticed that my HDD was making the same noise as the fan.

Same issue, steam bootstrapper is causing my CPU fan to rev every few seconds

Same - was working fine yesterday, steam notified me it was doing an update and now the fan rev's constantly soon as I fire up steam. Soon as I shut down steam the fan stops cycling/reving.

I have the same problem since the last windows 10 update. It is very annoying to experience. I hope someone finds a solution soon.

You guys are the best, especially TheFirstBelmont, that fixed it, thanks!
download/update the command center at dell website here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=P1K0M
Then restart your computer

I'm having the same issue but am no longer run an Alienware motherboard in my Aurora R3 case. Anyone have a fix for those that cant run Command Center?
Xonix Oct 13, 2017 @ 5:45pm
I can't run this command center thing. I have an alienware motherboard still but also windows 10. The download that was sent earlier keeps giving me an error message that I'm installing it on the wrong thing. The download page does not list windows 10 under supported operating systems. What should I do for windows 10?
