does family share work on pre-ordered games?
My friend was planning to pre-order a game and we were wondering if family sharing worked on pre-ordered games so i could pre-load the game. (P.S: the game is pre-loadable)

weird, we can family share wd2 which uses drm and can still be family shared, if that would not work as we just thought we were thinking about far cry 5 even if it uses a 3rd party ubi account, my friend would share it.

np, but still my question was, will we be able to family share far cry 5 if he pre-ordered it? Because we want to pre-load it (not-so-good internet speed)
Yeah well, there is no other way than just trying it. We're gonna try. Thanks for the answers.

You cant share Far Cry 5 because its an UBISOFT game that needs a connection to a UPLAY account.
No game that uses 3rd party DRM like UPLAY or ROCKSTAR SOCIAL CLUB can be family shared on Steam.

What is family sharing? Is it like game sharing on Xbox?

No, its way more restrictive.
http://store.steampowered.com/promotion/familysharing

You basically can share your library with another user but only one user can use the library at any given time and you get kicked out if the original owner starts any game from his library.
Also you need to login to the computer of the person you want to share with with your Steam login data.
So its really just meant for users who share with siblings or similar in the same household.

I specified in an earlier comment that my friend would let me use his uplay acc to play it.

Here on Steam, sharing accounts is against the SSA, I'm sure UPlay has something like that too.

Your friend is taking a big chance, he could lose onlineplay in all his games on that account, if you or someone on your system, logs in and decides to try a cheat, and get a permanent ban.

Steam rules, not uplay though. If you have a brother (just like in my case, the friend is acctualy my brother.)I guess it would be normal to use the same account.
My main and main question that I wanted to get answered on was if the pre-ordered game would appear right away in the SHARED library or If I would have to wait until the release for it to appear in the SHARED library.

You asked someone a question that hasn't put anything on this in over 3 years.
