Steam activated key of the game i am already own

I have an issue with the key of the product i am already own. I am already own the game and wanted to activate another copy on my friends account but forgot to logout and steam activate the code for the game i am already own on my profile and the key no more valid for my friend. How can we solve this issue?

Call of Duty Advance Warfare, I've had it for years on this account and the other key was activated today on this, same account .

keys don't get used if you already own product, unless it was a different version of product, then nothing you can do.

Look i know how things work, i am a veteran steam user, i am talking truth. Just edited my post. I own the product since the release, no issues there. When i tried to activate the code (not knowing i am on the wrong profile) i had an error stating that i am already own the game.

I tried to activate it again and it prompt me to install the game and that where i've notice its not the right account. Can somebody from support look at it, i own the product for years and the second key somehow got activated today.

That is normal. If you already own a game and try to activate it, Steam will tell you you already own the game and prompt you to install your already owned version.
That means the key was not used up and can still be used on another account.

That's negative, it states that the key was used regardless on which account we tried.

There you should see all your licenses activate on the account. You'll probably find there the two different licenses activated.

While i do agree, but the license was activated years ago, thats the issue, steam just swallowed the second key!

Which is the usual message when you have the game already and try to activate another key. The activation was not done on this account then. It was activated somewhere else in the meanwhile.

Do a CD query and see if the email gets sent into any of email addresses you know about.

On the first try i had and error stating that i am already own the game and would not let me to do anything (even installation), on the second try it when through and prompted me to install the game, thats wherei've notice my account.

As said, do a CD query and see if an email arrives to your registered email address. Otherwise it wasn't activated here.
