Xbox controller not working correctly
My xbox controler has been doing some really weird things whenever i plug it in to play games. So far, In dark souls 3, it has been doing the following things
-analog stick controls system volume
-start button will alt tab
-RB will screenshot
Ive been trying to find out how to fix this issue but im at an utter lost trying to fix it. Anyone know or have an idea on how to fix this?

If you have Windows 10, disable GameMode and the GameDVR options for XBOXLIVE.
I think you picked the wrong controller profile in steam

Weird, because that usually doesn't affect volume controls for the PC itself.

Is XBOX-CE or other control mapper present?
I have a strong feeling that is your issue here.

nope no programs present

Even weirder is after i started the game to test it it started doing the issue again, stoped for about 40 sec and then started doing it again. This is by far the strangest problom i have ecounterd.

edit:
forgot to mention this but immediately after closing DS3, steam went into big pic mode so this may relate to that in someway.

Go to Steam Settings > Controllers and go through all of those settings there. For Controller, Desktop, etc.

Desktop Mode must be off so Controller does not act like a Mouse

Ive made sure to uncheck every box and disable desktop mode and still no fix. I have a feeling this may have to do with both windows 10 and big pic mode as even out of a steam game now the controller still controls the volume. But also while in a steam game i can take screen shots using the steam screenshot system

Ive made sure the following settings are turned off
- Evey windows 10 game mode setting is turned off
- Game DVR is turned off
- Xbox controller config is disabled in big pic mode
- Desktop support is disabled in big pic mode

On xbox one controller, when i press the home button for opening big picture, instead I turn up the volume. How can i solve this?
Thanks

Quit the Steam beta.

They already fixed those issues on Beta. Mine updated today to address this.

Click Steam in the Client in far upper left > then Check for Updates

Thanks. Steam was updated, but not in beta version. I'll try the beta version

hello. i know this is an old topic, but... has anyone found a solution for this yet? it is very annoying. :(
Disable Steam's input mapper.

Enable the mapper (it's already enabled) and disable it then. Looks like it's partically enabled, but not properly shown.

That's exactly that.

For anyone stuck with this still, this is how I got this to work:
Steam Menu > Settings
Choose Controller

Select Guide Button Chord Configuration
  • Choose the Left-most Box on the bottom (the image shows it's for the left stick on the controller)
  • Select the Up button on the D-Pad Image
  • Click Binding for Start Press
  • The Keyboard/Mouse image has a set of special functions on the top. Choose the one on the top right (Empty).
  • Press escape and repeat for Long Press

Escape back to the D-Pad Image and repeat for the down direction.

Once you've escaped out of all those options, your volume should no longer be affected by the pad.
