{LINK REMOVED} - Why?
So this has never really been a problem for me until today. Almost every single link my friends try to send me gets replaced with "{LINK REMOVED}"

It's extremely frustrating and I would like to know if there is a way to turn this feature off, or at least if there's a way to get around this.

No. The links they're sending you are known to be malicious. For example, if they're trying to send you mediafire dl links, mediafire has malware popups.
I wouldn't trust your friends then.

EDIT: Wow... *** Removed name of toxic forum *** really gets censored on these forums?
That is because that site is so toxic, that it has no place on Steams forum.

I vehemently disagree with you, but that's beside the point. I'm fine with Steam not allowing certain links to be posted on its forums, but to block links sent between two good longtime friends within a private chat? It doesn't make sense to me. You may see the website as "toxic", but there is absolutely no reason to block the site within a private chat.

Because when people got hijacked they would send their friends these scam links and the friends be like "Oh it's just from my friend, I'll click it" which have caused far FAR more problems than it should.

If you want to send links between each other add on another chat platform but Steam will be trying to protect its users as much as it can.

So it's just punishing the many to protect the few. Got ya.

Also, if that were the case, why are the sites thread and board links not blocked as well?

It isn't punishing the many, it's just punishing the few that links to generally shady sites.

It absolutely is punishing the many, because those who do not have malicious intent are being blocked from sharing images with each other. You'd be surprised how many people share images from "that" site over steam chat.

You also didn't address my second point. If board/thread links are allowed, why not image links?

EDIT: Also, for what purpose did you delete one of my earlier comments talking about what kind of links were being sent? Did that post break some rule or something? Because I didn't realize that saying there is no malicious intent in the links, and identifying what the links are, was against the rules.

Yes, the many people who use a very popular website that gets hundreds of thousands of posts per day. I don't want to have to take an image I found on the site, then have to upload it to imgur or something just so I can share it.

Now, please explain to me how the site is dubious.

Explain to me how the site is toxic using objective terms not based in opinions or emotions, please. And remember, /pol/ is not the only board on the site.
