Need help with new controller on alienware alpha

I’m trying to use an xbox one controller on Steam. I’m very new to this stuff. I don’t know if my problem is my system or on steam, but I will describe what’s happening. I have an alienware alpha which works fine with my xbox 360 controller. I successfully paired my xbox one controller via bluetooth, and it works in the steam menus. It’s only when i’m in the game that i have trouble. At first nothing worked until i went to checked the box next to something about steam controller configuration, now the d oad and joysticks work in the game but certain buttons make the wrong thing happen. For example right trigger pauses the game. I think the controller may be inputting certain keyboard commands. I would loveto have it work normally. Thanks in advance

Thanks, looking into this now. I never heard of “binds”. What are they and how do they work?
