i have a virus

so i downloaded cheat engine 6.7 a while ago and then it started to say windows cannot find this name, please make sure you typed the name correctly or something like that idk. so i asked dark byte (the creator of cheat engine) and he said i have a virus or a trojan and should reinstall windows but i dont wanna do that. So does anyone have like a good anti virus software thats free cause i just ignored his message about reinstalling windows but now recently ive been getting fps drops on like rainbow six sige and bo3 to like 50 or 40 when i usually play 75 and plz dont get triggered and say "oh i play with that everyday" cause i dont care that you do i just want a suggestion for a good anti virus cause i think that fps drop is that virus so plz help.

He's right, you should reinstall Windows. I know that's not what you want to hear but it really is the only way to be sure that you're rid of the malware on your machine.

Having a virus doesn't mean you need to reinstall Windows, unless it affected the system very badly, instead, he should scan if there's even a virus, and remove it, instead of go through the process of backing up all his files, and reinstalling.

i do have windows defender and i did do a full scan and nothing came up (sorry i forgot to state that in the post)

i did download malwarebytes and took the malware off my computer bu tim still getting the fps drops
