Adding a non Steam game?
I want to add a non Steam game called Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection to Steam. It was released around 2002. Is it possible and if it is, will I still need the disc to play?

All you are doing is adding a shortcut of the game so it launches with Steam overlay. If there is no shortcut to the game, it won't be possible.

Yes, I've done it before. Although, if I remember correctly, the steam overlay doesn't work in it but everything else works.
Games with its own client launcher are guaranteed that it won't work.

You may need to find the game .exe that is not the game launcher. Doing this may skip the game's update since launchers are its own game updater.

By launcher, do you mean like Origin or something? I don't know if it's been rereleased on Origin, but I have a two disc set from way before any extra launchers.
You can't add it to your Steam account. All you can do is install it as normal, and than add it to the steam client to launch it from there, this is purely a cosmetic/convenience feature. You'll still need the disks and everything.

Could still be worth adding it to Steam. Thanks!

Something similar to Minecraft's launcher where it updates first before running the game.

Speaking of Minecraft, its one of those limited games that are excempted and compatible with the Steam Overlay.
