Ordering game categories
I searched a bit and could not find exactly what I was looking for. I know how to set a category, I know it sets them alphabetically, but it does not play well will the steam categories evidently.

I wasn't planning on putting everything into a certain order, but some games, I'm not ready for my kids to play yet or at all, so I was going to mark those in a mature category and leave it at that. This however put that category above all my uncategorized games even though they are listed under "Games".

So is there a way to set the categories lower than the steam preset ones, or do I just have to make a new games category and click on all the titles?

Thanks.

Make a category "Z" and "ctrl+click" on each of the games you want to go there before you right click to set them.

You can select multiple games at once with Shift+click or Ctrl+click and then change categories for lots at once.

If you need to place restrictions on games your kids can play you should use family view. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5149-EOPC-9918
Ideally they should have their own steam accounts and you could family share the games also.

Yeah, that still sets it above Steam's Games category. Which I mentioned in the post as Mature would come alphabetically after games. User categories seem to get priority over Steam ones.

They do have their own accounts, but I have more games, plus we play a lot of couch co op, which is my only other category.

Move all the titles from the games category to a new one. That should remove that category. Each new game is auto dropped there when added to the account.

Good that they have their own accounts, you should still let them play your games via theirs via sharing unless it's co-op ofc.

Still, family view sounds useful to you.

The problem with that is, then I can't play while they are playing in my library. Thnnks though.
