Did you find a solution or did the problem resolve itself on it's own? What kind of internet do you have? Is it mobile, wifi or fiber?
I've had the issue ever since I switched my 12/1 ADSL to 50Mbps mobile internet. The problem occurs in all browsers and in steam client itself. It's not that images aren't loading, it just takes way too long time to load (like my emoticon list can take few minutes to load). For some pages with many pictures (like say large friend list), it'll stop loading images entirely and you have to F5 several times to get all of them to show. Having multiple steam pages open at the same time escalates the issue.
Mind that I have no issue downloading games or patches and I can download full speed just fine.
Weirdly enough, I've yet to encounter this behavior in ANY other site including other digital store fronts that also use gazzillion small images to showcase their products. The new wishlist is one of the worst offenders despite relatively small number of images (107 wishlisted games).
