Corsair Strafe RGB Keyboard BROKEN!
So I was cleaning my keyboard gently with a q-tip like I normally do and it started to spam the - key and right now it's not stopping I'm fighting it by deleting the - key but if I type fast enough I can fight it without deleting it please help, I checked if it was dirty under the - key but it's hard to see under it because it's a mechanical keyboard, I'm using Grammarly to type this so It's easier to type, the problem is super bad and hard to type with because over time the spamming gets faster and I can't catch up with it, at first I thought that water damage might be the problem but it's impossible because my keyboard is nowhere near any kind of fluids, the keyboard is fairly new and not super dirty at all, when I cleaned the keyboard with the q-tips I didn't clean near the switches I only cleaned the top and the sides of the keys, please help me and give me some positive feedback. -----------------------------------------------------------------

The switches are cherry mx brown

You need to actually remove the keys on a mechanical keyboard, to clean it fully. There's probably grit or liquid of some kind connecting the key.

As I said, I cleaned under the - key, but I think I need to pop open the back and clean under the plastic, if you look at a picture of the Strafe RGB you will find a white plastic barrier preventing me from cleaning inside of it.

For instance this keyboard pic I found online, http://images.anandtech.com/doci/10112/STRGB_08.JPG

You can actually remove the switch itself and clean the mechanism if neeed be. Cherry MX keyswitches have a pair of tabs - pluck off the key with a keypuller then depress both tabs with a small tool(IE a fork) to remove the switch cover and access the springs inside the switch. This is where the dirt will be.

You can also replace the entire keyswitch - if it's still broken you can buy a replacement set of MX keyswitches for peanuts on Ebay and repair the keyboard that way.

Thanks, I didn't know that was possible :D

That's one of the cool things about MX. The keyswitches are swappable so if you fall out of love with your current keyboard, you can just swap in a different style of switch and change the fundamental feel.

They're also cross-compatible with Gateron Glorious switches, if you're willing to spend $50 and have the very best.

The only downside to that is actually swapping all 107 keyswitches. By the 50th switch you'll wish you had some paint handy so you could have the excitement of watching it dry,
