Please check which one of those work and which one doesn't.
But it might still work if you plug one into the motherboard right? Sure, the problem is probably because how you plugged it in but it should work if you have the gpu drivers installed for the motherboard right?
You should not play games on the vertical one though..
Find the manual for your GPU.
In Steam click Help>System Information. Then right click the text and click "copy all text to clipboard" and then paste it in here.
If you don't use steam in english then please switch to english first.

If you can't then you should still be able to use the motherboard hdmi thing right?
My PC right now does it like that, one GPU shows as intel and I don't play games on it but that's it.
Number of Monitors: 1
Number of Logical Video Cards: 1
There is your problem. If you can't plug both into the lower ones then find the video drivers for your motherboard and install them and it should work.
Okay. Thanks for your help guys
Drivers should make the monitor work without buying new cables right?
Even if i plug 1 HDMI into the top set of outs, it still comes up with 'no signal'. This is when i have unplugged ALL of the lower set of outs.
OP, if you want to install drivers and possibly change bios stuff to have a extra monitor not for gaming then go ahead and do that.
Or if you want to buy a cable then it will be easier. Just be sure you got the right cable with the right connector: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface#Connector
(look at the type you have on the GPU and buy a cable that will fit)
