SSD and HDD?
I'm very new to computer hardware so excuse the cringe.

I have an MSI GL62 6QD, and it only comes with a HDD, and I was wondering if I was able to upgrade to an SSD aswell as keeping the HDD in? I'm not sure if you can do that with laptops or even my specific laptop, but if it is possible, any reccomendations to what is the best SSD for gaming? (affordable pls)

Thanks.

You can def. have an SSD and an HDD on a laptop (I have both myself). If what you want is to add an SSD to an old laptop that doesn't have the "physical space", you can always get rid of your CD drive (and have it externally) - I did that myself on my previous laptop...
Hope this helps! :)

That laptop should have a 1x M.2 Typ 2280 (NVMe/PCIe) & 1 x 255-inch slot.
Meaning, you can have one SSD in the M.2 slot and one mechanical 2.5 inch HDD.

For more information, please post in the Hardware & Operating System section.

By all appearances your laptop can have an m.2 SSD + HDD (or a second 2.5" SSD) at the same time.

If you want to get an SSD and keep the HDD, it MUST be an m.2 or it won't fit.

The m.2 is the stick center-bottom above the wire and battery. HDD is the rectangular box on the right.

No you can't. That laptop has 1 x M.2 slot + 1 x SATA slot. By default it comes with 1 M.2 SSD and a 1TB SATA HDD. You can't have a SATA HDD and SATA SSD both in that laptop at the same time because there is only one SATA port. Laptop MOBO generally have limited extension slot and come with all the slots fully used.

From what I am reading here, it seems an M.2 SSD is what is compatible with my laptop. If I were to get an M.2, what would be a reccomended size, (e.g, 250GB/1TB), as I'm looking to put a few games on it such as PUBG as it wont load up fast enough on my HDD.
