Hibernation mode takes up space on your SSD, that's about it. Don't think sleep does that.

If you have a modern SSD then you should not worry about this wearing out your ssd.

Can you paraphrase exactly what he said to lake you think that hibernating is bad for your SSD?
Makes me wonder whatever maybe Windows had put my settings back / since some creators update or whatever.

Sleep keep stuff in RAM but I think the normal behavior of Windows is to use the hibernate file anyway for safety reasons because sleep may be used on laptops and there you're more likely to run out of juice and then with data saved to the hibernate file the machine can still be booted up into that state, of course also functions against a power loss on a desktop machine too. One can remove that behavior though (It's the hybrid sleep.)

Also why do Microsoft even pretend like they bother? My machine wanted to upgrade like two days ago but I put it onto sleep but the next day when I booted it it started a clean boot and had updated anyway ..
