Windows 10 + Steam + Bluetooth Controllers Not Working
Hello everyone!

New to the forum, but I've been a Steam user for years.

I've recently purchased a 8bitdo NES30 Pro which can connect via bluetooth and also act as an xbox360 controller if plugged in directly to the PC via USB. It's a nifty little controller.

Anyway, I notice I can use the controller in bluetooth mode in Steam Big Picture mode, so I am able to navigate the menus and select the game, but when the game launches, the controller does not work.

I tested on both Outlast and Portal 2 which can both use my xbox360 controller or the NES30 Pro if I plug it in directly via USB (It acts like a 360 controller in that mode), but the games dont work at all over bluetooth.

Are there any solutions here I can proceed with? Maybe have the Windows 10 OS think my bluetooth controller is an Xbox360 controller?

Any suggestions would be great...

P.S. This goes for all bluetooth controllers ive used. None work with these games.

My OS is:
Windows 10 64-bit (Home Edition)

If it works in BPM, then it should work fine.

Disable all the Controller options in BPM, except for Generic

Exit BPM and Restart Steam Client

Not to necro an old thread or anything, but after searching for what feels like an eternity, this thread, as well as a lot of reddit threads are all I've found (consistently) pertaining to my situation, and of those, the few on reddit are archived and I can't post. Therefore, in order to help anybody else out there who might still be having issues with their 8bitdo controllers being used on steam via bluetooth, they now have (not sure how long it's been there) a program called "XPad App" located under Support --> Tools. All I had to do was follow the the 2 page manual, (the pictures take up about 80% of each page so it's extremely short) and in literally 30 seconds steam recognized my controller with no problem, and was even playing on my steamlink with no issues.

Again, I haven't found anything other than these old threads, so hopefully anybody else that does their due diligence in 2018 (yeah right) and comes across this thread, this application will help!

Use USB Wired or available Wireless USB Adapter; not BT

Thank you bobit99, I'm going to try it as soon as I get home. I hope that 8bitdo app solves all my problems with the controller, because it doesn't work via BT with the ZSNES emulator either. I hope that gets fixed too.
