MSVCP140.dll is not designed to run on Windows
ISSUE RESOLVED THANK YOU LADIES

Recent error that popped up in the last couple of days after an update to Windows 10. It seems to affect both Skype and PUBG, and probably a lot of other games too, so I wanna know if there's a workaround (besides me having to do a system restore, which my system never completes) or if I just have to wait for Microsoft to get their heads out of their asses?

Well, you could try Google instead as that is a very specific error message and, therefore, easy to search on. My second result from the search was this which seems to match perfectly to your situation.

I googled it yesterday and got results for a 'DLL missing' instead of what I actually typed in. Thanks for the help.

Update. Tried what that Reddit post suggested, no dice, still can't run either of them.

You uninstalled it and then reinstalled from scratch, right? If it was just a Steam game acting up then I'd have suggested uninstalling it and reinstalling using the exact version of the redistributable contained in the game's own Steam directory. However, the fact that you can't get Skype working either excludes that solution.

I'd strongly suggest that you post in the Hardware and OS subforum about this problem as their knowledge of these things is far in excess of mine.

I did. I'll make another post there just to see if anything comes of it though I'm apparently the only one on the PUBG forums having this specific issue. =/

Thanks for providing already provided tips in the same post they were provided. I get you're trying to help, and I do appreciate it. Just... Kinda not actually helping.

Hi Netatsake! I have same issue with the "cannotfind 'msvcp140.dll'" how you fixed the issue? :) or do you still have the thread that addressed the error? thanks a lot in advance!

Give me a moment to see if I still have it saved somewhere.

Edit: Don't have it saved anywhere. I recall the issue being resolved by reinstalling/repairing the install of MicroSoft Visual C++. If it's a specific game that's having this issue for you, I'd recommend checking the file under Steam>Steamapps>Common>(game)>common_redist (or something of the nature) for a copy of it, games that require third party software to run include installers for said third party software in case the installation for them goes wrong.
