Turning off Big Picture
Ever since I started Big Picture to play Nier: Automata, it's been automatically launching itself in any game that uses a controller--namely For Honor. because of this, For Honor is registering my PS4 controller plugged into my PC as a Steam Controller, changing all of the button inputs into Steam Controller inputs.

How can I turn this off and go back to my PS4 inputs? I keep having to manually change controller bindings every time I start the game.

Using the Desktop Steam UI:

Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > (Uncheck) "Playstation Controller Support" (Do the same for all controller types, tbh, spare you any future trouble).

Then to stop BPM overlay (if this is also a problem)

Settings > In-game > (Uncheck) "Use Big Picture Overlay when using controller".

Valve should stop forcing ♥♥♥♥ on people.

Just go to the controller settings for steam and disable it.

What a horrible and botched feature. Accidentally turned it off by misclicking minimize (hurray for dark patterns), couldn't find any way to close it so I just had to ALT+F4 Steam to go back to normal...

Agree this is a botched feature. I accidentally clicked the Big Picture Mode icon in the top right of my screen and couldn't figure out how to close it. Eventually I found out:

You can close big picture mode by right clicking on the steam systray icon, there is an option to exit big picture at the bottom of the menu.

This didn’t help at all. 😡

This answer took way to long to find in the search results. JFC why the exit all the way hidden on the sys tray. FU valve.

In the new BPM UI updated long after this thread was originally created...

Bottom left corner, click on "Steam."

Choose "power."

Choose "exit Big Picture Mode."

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
