My screen looks like crap on default nVidia driver
This haunts me since ages - I went trough 3 GPUs since so I assume is inside the monitor. (DELL 24" LED via HDMI cable)
By each driver reinstall the screen looks washed out and too bright. On my older PC I solved it with setting from RGB to ycbcr444. Now since I have a new Ryzen system, this caused sometimes to color the screen to red.
So now Im solving this by setting RGB dynamic range to full instead limited.

Not a big issue more like annoyance. Is this a forever-nvidia-bug or simply my monitor is too picky when it comes to HDMI?

You should set RGB to FULL
The default is set to LIMITED and this is why things/colors look dull, fonts look washed/blurred.

No its not an issue, it's the default, it has to be that way since not every connection type supports that full RGB mode.

There are many changes you must make to your GPU every time you redo your Driver; its just how this has always been, since forever... same goes with basically any Driver, such as Audio. All your audio settings in the OS go back to defaults when you change driver.

It's very simple: for a designer any unspecialized and not calibrated monitor will be terrible.
And the older the monitor, the more it changes the color rendition: the phosphor burns even at the LCD, the brightness and color temperature changes.

Yes, you must fine-tune everything, no default can compensate for "This will be the best"

Do you install an OS and leave everything at default, no you tweak it.
Do you buy a new phone and leave everything default, no you tweak it.

Well yeah, we are picky about correct colors, even as minor artist I have thousands of fans. Was enough of facepalm when last time on my new Highschool DxD wallpaper, I forgot to draw eyebrows to Rias Gremory. :cocochan2:

I also use Photoshop to calibrate it, but each driver update messed it up. And now I got this new system I needed redo the whole again.

Btw sidequestion: is 3840x2400 a normal resolution? We do make 2560x1600 for 16:10 and 2560x1440 for 16:9. With the upcoming 4K and the fact that our art is done on large resolutions to begin with I exchanged many 16:9 to 3840x2160, I also submitted some to 3840x2400 but not sure if anybody can use this, except some IBM screen I found and a few gaming laptops.

It would be a 16:10 monitor so I could see it being for people who like the extra vertical space. Like me.

Why does your Monitor have to dictate your Art?
Many people make art in 8K or 16K, regardless of the Monitor, that really doesn't matter.

For art creation, just do that on a 4K or 5K IPS Display.

I "grew up" on a site which dictated art to be inside desktop resolutions. Regarding 8K and 16K, it is hard to work even with 4K as long most brushes/textures barely hit even 1000 pixels.
Means I would need make even the used resources myself.

Hard to work at 4K? HUH!? Just zoom in...

What artist works at desktop res; hmm none of them. You work around ratio.

You work at much higher res, so the detail is there. It will auto scale down to fit properly for smaller res, so that wont matter. But you don't make pictures at 1920x1200 and such, thats just silly.

That would be like taking photos with a camera at that res, no one does that. You take pictures at many many times the res your aiming for really, so the detail is captured. If you took pictures at 1080p or so, they'd come out like crap.

Not about being hard. The available brushes are in too low resolution for 4K. And much fewer free resources are made as they did before.
Now everybody wants you to charge for everything, which in most cases turnes out being crap which just has a fancy cover.

No software calibration! Only hardware spectrophotometers and colorimeters with positive feedback, only hardcore! Yes, it's expensive :( - that's why I do not work in polygraphy(Prepress) - too much headaches.
And what problem with brashes? - work in vector, than resize and export to raster (best software for it (Corel)Xara - work with raster as with vector) - i know, you can!
And the tools and workpieces must always be made by yourself - "If you want to do something best - do it yourself!"
