accidentally canceled update for game

I accidentally canceled the update for a game I want to update. How do I force the game to update? I can't play the game without updating

Library -> Select the game waiting for download -> Right click -> Manage download

It had a pending update, and I canceled it by mistake, now it will not update, and when I open the game, it asks me to update it and then play, but no update shows up, not even when I launch the game.

there is nothing special about it, it's like any other game in my library, the update just won't show up anymore. it acts like it has been updated, but it has not

Have Steam verify that the game files are installed correctly and all dowenloads completed.
Steam will start to download missing files...

I already did that. It was the first thing I did. It did not work.
Verifying game files, from my understanding, is only verifying the names of the files.

Restart steam then

Simply start the game and Steam will complain that an update needs to be downloaded.

2) reverify your game cache

White menu popped up, accidently closed it caus either thought it was finished. Before anyone suggests anything I have tried checking game files, making a back up, uninstall inglorious and reinstalling both steam and the game itself. Nothing works, don't want to be a ♥♥♥♥ but I need a legit new suggestion. A way to get that white menu back up. Why is there no answer for this?
