Why Does Steam download soo slow

I get 300 mb/s download from my ISP which means steam should download at about 37.5 MB/s but it only downloads at about 2 MB/s why is this and can I fix it?

well I've had this problem for a few months, I used to be able to download about 30 MB/s but then one day steam decided to just not do that anymore

Did you try choosing a different server location?
I think somewhere in settings you could choose from the list. (for example living in Europe i mostly use Sweden as the download server,although i'm living in Baltics.)

Edit: go STEAM->Settings->Downloads-> and under "Download region" try choosing from the list of countries.

I changed it from sweden to UK and I now get around 4 MB/s, I will try some more servers to see if I can get it higher than that

Above also depends on how many people use the servers when you download. So on another day numbers could be higher or lower. Some servers that are worse now might be better at another time.

Servers close to your location are better most of the time.

Lucky, tried downloading black ops 3 from a friends account and it took an entire afternoon/evening to finish lol, brutal.
