i think there is a list somewhere too
all that is possible - I'm pretty sure!!
That is normal. I read your other thread in the game forum but the game ALWAYS needs Steam to run. You cant play the game just with the disc and no Steam.
Having Steam running is mandatory for nearly all games on Steam. That is just how things are on the pc market nowadays.
BTW there is no way to contact any "Steam Devs". Steam will always automatically download the newest version of the files the game contains.
After activating the game the whole retail box is pretty much just useless plastic and paper.
Nice for the shelf to look at but dont expect to install the game from it apart from maybe launch day. And even then the files are most of the time already outdated.
You cant. Steam only lets you play the latest updated version. There is no way to play outdated versions of a game. Steam autoupdates ALWAYS to the newest version.
Because this system is the same for every single game on Steam. Games autoupdates to the latest version when you connect to Steam. No exception.
Also the only way to contact Steam is over the ticket system. And the ticket system is only available for certain questions, mostly account and payment related.
Apart from that there is no way to contact Steam. No email, no telephone, no chat.
Thats just the way it is here on Steam.
Yes. But that only works for non outdated files. Since your game files on the disc are outdated Steam will ALWAYS download the newest files. You cant prevent that and you cant install the old version from disc. Even if you somehow would be able to get the files onto your pc, as soon as you would try to start the game Steam would delete the old files and still start the download anew.
Steam games do not start if the version of the files are not the same as the ones in the Steam Database.
Thanks for now!!
Good luck. I own over 2000 games on Steam, around 100 or so of that are retail versions. And the same rules apply to every single one of those. But please, go ahead. There is no legal way to get this outdated game version to run on Steam. That is just a 100% fact. Does not matter if you dont like the answer or dont want to hear it. It will not change it.
