Can't remove a steam library folder
My gaming laptop has only 256 gb for a c dive so I decided to get a external drive to install more games. I added a library folder in it, but when I tried to install a game it said that it had a disk write error. I tried to delete the library from the steam settings and it gave me an error saying "Removing selected steam library folder failed." So I deleted the folder directly from the hard drive to see if I could then delete it from the steam settings again, (should also note that I cleared the recycling bin). It gave me that same error again. I'm super confused and would really like to know a solution to this problem.

maybe try formating the drive (warning will delete everything off of the HDD) and then without adding the folder try downloading a game to it
Restart steam first to see what happens in regard to deleted folder

Restart your PC without starting Steam, then try it. That way, Steam won't have a "finger" in your folder's "pie".

i had this same issue and in my case, to solve it, i had to clear download cache, then STEAM restarts by himself and then i could delete the folder.

@ Juao - Dude, you are amazing! For so many months since moving my games from the C to the G (my external) drive they appear as if they are uninstalled - your download cache clearance idea solved it!

My man you're a genius - thank you, clearing the download cache fixed it immediately.

I tried this and it didn't work. I'm having the same problem.

I managed to delete mine by renaming the folder I wanted to remove to something like "SteamLibrary12", then I restarted steam and I was able to remove the drive from the library, afterwords I changed the name back to original and all is good, it seems like steam really doesn't want to remove a drive folder if it has installed games on it.
