How to find someone by Custom Nickname?
I didn't really need that so far, but just in case I'd like to know - how to find someone via the Nickname that we gave to that person? I already know how to add a custom nickname to anyone on Steam (ask me and I can explain), but Steam Community friends search seems to not take the Custom Nicknames to account at all (when you're logged in of course). I'm certain there is a way to use them this way, with using consoles or something, but I just don't know how to.

This would be fantastic in case someone would silently unfriend and leave without a trace. I always add a nickname to new people on my friendlist, so this would be always a way to find the nasty guy and block.
Steam already implemented sometime ago the Follow option. It's very powerful, however, unorganized. It only partially solves the problem, as I won't add everyone there, because it would simply get too messy.

I don't believe you can, anyways theres others ways to track down the player if you've forgotten their username:

~ Looking in friends activity back when you were friends

~ Looking at old trades with them

~ If you are in there group, or if they are in the same group as you, you can find them that way

~ Looking through email notification.

Those are all I could think of at the moment about how to track an old friend down if they happened to delete you. That's what I did, at least. I hope this helped, and If I think of more I'll update my post

Why would you need to block someone who has "unfriended" you? Wouldn't that be closing the barn door after the horse has already escaped? (And they're "nasty" just because they don't want to be your friend? Isn't that a bit extreme?)

You don't get my point. If someone would unfriend me without stating a reason, I would either try to find out why, ignore or block.

I understand that you would want to know why you were unfriended, but if they're already out of your life (for whatever reason) why would you need to ignore or block them? To quote the Eagles, they're "Already Gone".

I could answer that, but I came here to ask a question, not to discuss ideological stances.

Fair enough!
Sorry to necro, but has steam implemented this fix?

I want to search my friend list by "Custom Nickname" because my friends always change their in-game names.
