[Solved] This user has no known aliases
I have never changed my username, yet I don't have "This user has no known aliases" text when clicking on the small downwards arrow next to my profile name. Instead it just repeats my current steam name. Why is that? Thanks!

That date and time is when I set up my profile. I've never had the "This user has no known aliases" message even straight after creating my profile.

you had to have changed it 1 time right before your current name. that is the only way it will not show "This user has no known aliases."

Before setting up my profile it showed the start of my email address. But how do you avoid that when making a steam account?

I've never had that occur. It was always defaulted to the Steam ID.

Maybe this is something that's been changed in the last year? So new users cannot get the "This player has no known aliases" message after setting up their profile?

Ok so for anyone else wondering. After creating a steam account, your profile name will be the same as your email address before the '@'. When setting up your steam profile press cancel to keep your profile name as whatever the start of your email address is. You will have no other aliases. Alternatively you can change your username so it doesn't display the start of your email which is probably better security wise. You won't have the "This user has no known aliases" message and the username you change it to would be in the drop down box instead.

It has always defaulted to the start of your email address. This has been a thing ever since Steam launched back in '03.
Yes, but apart for some years now it still gave you no known alias when you just changed the email name to something else.

So profile names like yours with the spaces and capitals that also have no known aliases are not possible to create anymore right?
I think when one day every profile got former names arrows, that behaviour changed.

Thank you for clearing this up :-)
