It does work with the steam version. As the description says, it got updated.
I actually bought the steam version only to see if it works because I only had a normal cd version which was not compatible as the expansions were missing.
I also noticed, the ingame hours wont go up when using this method. I didn't try it but I think you could actually play many many hours in 2 weeks and give it back ( not recommended since it could end up in a ban if they find out ). I have played like 20 hrs but it does not show on steam.
This is the link that video refers to. however it does not seem to support 1440p. The google drive file the other link directs to in the description is for 1080p. Thank you for the answer however i do not see this working in my case unless somebody knows the hex code for 1440p; I could not find it.
With the hex method it could work. I tried that out too some time ago but it didn't work on the normal version. I remember it was very hard to find the code inside the editor. There should be videos and screenshots online. Maybe you can find another editor with a search function.
For some it works to edit a solution file in %appdata% which for me didn't work.
If all that doesn't help, you just have to stick to 1080p for now until someone might get it working. Or you dig yourself through the deep internet again and find your program if it still exists but to be honest I don't think that's worth it because your program might be down caused by maybe a copyright thing or somethin like that.
I will help you searching tho. I really want you to get your game working.
I tried doing this. I can't find the hex lines it's refering to.

Requires roller coaster tycoon 2 but its well worth it, the devs did a great job on the project still in active development.
Though the project does sound awesome. A project for RCT like what OpenTTD did for Transport Tycoon Deluxe.
RCT2 is 4 bucks RN not to bad its the same game but more expansions. Open RCT2 adds alot of stuff like ability to use your gpu over cpu, support for a ton of new resolutions, expansions, multiplayer if your into that sort a thing, cheats, map editors, Mod support, ability to zoom in and out further. just to name a few.
Its a huge project. i can't even play the game without it now. Never did find a workaround to the resolution issue with 1440p so its the only way i know of to play at that resolution exclusive full screen. its gonna be a well spent 4 bucks if your really into RCT.
