Can I get hacked if I say something to somebody?
Ok, this might sound stupid to alot of people, but bear with me. I come from a family where stress is everywhere. All of my family members at the time had major stress issues. And I am no different.

I recently got a friend request from this lvl 53 dude. (Is name had something to do with sun, but I don't remember completely) He added me and he was on his phone represented by his icon. I added him a few seconds after he sent the request, when I accepted I wrote "?" to represent why he added me. He then just went 'away". This is stressing me out, did he get my steam account, am I screwed? Please somebody, help me and please, ignore my stupidity if this results to be false.

Jesus, no wonder my friends call me Tweek.

No, he just set his profile status to "away" after he had added you. You have nothing to worry about.

Ask yourself this question next time:
Does my worry make ANY sense?

This will help you in the long run.

If you get new friends then you should right click them in the friendslist and add a nickname, just pick something like "new friend" or write their nickname like it was when you first got the request. That way you will remember who he is if he changes his name. Good thing to do with old friends also, you can write irl names and stuff like that.
This is good if some new friend tries to impersonate some other friend for some reason.

You can't be hacked by chatting, but you can be lied to by chatting. Someone might trick you to download some voip software that's actually a trojan.
And by trick i mean that you actually just talk to them and do what they say.
The only way to get hacked via steam chat is by being tricked to do something outside of the chat that will get you hacked.

Don't worry about what you did, maybe he was just busy or he just wanted a higher number of friends.

I get what appear to be random invites all the time. Turns out someone saw a post of mine and wanted to chat. Not a big deal. Just keep it in Steam Chat and you'll be fine, Coffinmaw.

Yeah, I just thought that meant something bad... Thanks for the help though.

Thank you all for helping me. Really, it means alot that not everybody in this world is corrupted. (I've had some problems with hackers in the past, not just in videogames, but in other stuff aswell)

If it helps at all, hackers really dont care about msc steam users. They are out for bigger targets than you. Dont let it bug you, you stand a better chance of being hit by lightening while being attacked by shark than you do some random person picking you as his hacking target.
