Recently played with always empty (but others see me)

So, search was useless for advice on this, even when fed a direct URL from Google, though the best discussion I found ended in 2015 with no conclusion. So I'll ask here again: Why is it my "Recently played with" list is ALWAYS empty, even when I play multiplayer games, even when others can evidently see me because I get friend invites from people I meet in games? Is there a way to fix this? Is this a common problem?

I ran into a hacker in Dark Souls 2 a while ago and wanted to block them, but nothing showed. Today I ran into several people in Dark Souls 3 PvP, none were hacking, but one sent a friend invite, so obviously he could see me, but I couldn't see him (or anyone else). Any ideas?

Edit: For the record I haven't fiddled much with the options, so I may have missed it if there is something obscure to turn on. But that should also mean if this is an Opt-out, I wouldn't have touched it, because I didn't know that was a thing.

45.5 hours in the last two weeks... last three played were Dark Souls 2/3 and Baldurs Gate.

Looking for the people I played with, i.e. other people. Should show up in that menu. Thanks to videos I found another way to look at these that shows some results.

Mostly wondering why the menu under friends is always blank. I've never seen anything there.

I have this same issue, how did you solve it? My recently played with is always empty, there is no button 'recent activity' when playing in big picture mode for me either...

What you do is use the "View" menu at the top left of the Steam interface, and select "Players". That should give you a list of people you've recently played with. That method is still working for me, while going to my profile -> friends -> Recently Played With still doesn't work for me.

There's no players submenu now, and it doesn't work

you can also use steam overlay and select "view players" in the friends window on the left

so ive also tried to use recently played with too but the page is literally empty.. Noone is showing up at all. Plus ive also tried emptying my Cache but that didnt help either
