How do I verify an American Express card?

Hi, I just put 25 dollars from an American Express card I got as a gift, and now I have to wait 5 days or verify the card, which makes no sense to me because it isnt associated with a bank that I can verify it with. Can anyone explain how to verify an AE card?

Do you have money/credit still available on the card? Is there a web site you can visit to view past transactions, or a number you can call?

I used all the money on the card, and I dont know how I could see past transactions. It wont even send a code to the card, it just says it declined it.

If there is no money left on the card, it cannot be verified. Verification requires Steam putting two pre-authorization holds for a couple of dollars each on the card. That's not possible with an empty card, as the pre-authorizations will be refused.

You can still use the money to purchase games. You could also leave a small amount of money on the card, and use that for verification.

I mean, it will take up to 14 days to refund to the card. It would probably be faster to just wait the 5 days to be honest. In addition, you need to be able to see the hold amounts for verification to work.

Sorry, one more question: If I refund the card, will the restriction on the market go away? Because I could use my credit card that i already verified as a pose to the AE card.

No, they will not. They will remain until the card is verified or 5 days have passed.
