He is citing Valve's official doccumentation relating to the subject. He is quiting what Valve has stated.
Let us rephgrase it. This won't be done. You made a mistakje. Deal with it. That key will forever be bound to your account. YOu can have steam remove the game from your library but that will not give you anything back.
Had you purchased the game through steam, you would have been able to refund, and repurchase, but since you did not you have essentially made use of your one time use key. Tough-tits.
He is citing Steam policy. Policy which was written by those in authority.
Actually it does. You're just too far bent to realize that.
Though you're free to open a support ticket to steam Support but we've already told you what they will say. Doing so would just be a wast of your time, a support staffs time and mean some user with a real problem will have to wait that much longer.
To repeat. You activated the game on your account. At no point did steam ever allow you to add a game to your account as a gift (not in the 7 years I've been here at any rate). They do not issue refunds or reimbursement for purchases made through third party resellers.
But contacting the seller
That statement makes no sense. Besides. it's not likely Humble's tech support will say any different. Key resellers have a finite number of keys and reissueing a new one basically means they have one less key to sell. A key they have to pay the publisher for..
I suspect he's already been told as muchb by HUmble's staff whence why he's crying here.
You should not disencourage contacting their support just based on your impression.
1. CD keys can never be turned into gifts. Doing so would be a bad idea for a number of reasons.
2. It is quite explicit what the "Add a game" button does, the fact you didn't read it doesn't change the fact it did exactly what it was supposed to do.
3. Valve is quite clear that it will not restore CD keys, nor will it unlink a game from an account to create a giftable copy under any circumstances. They will offer refunds but only for games purchased through them (this is a key point because it leads to the next point).
4. If you want to fix this you are talking to the wrong company. You need to get Humble Store to notify Valve that the CD key you used has been revoked and to refund your money. They may or may not do this but they are the only one that can do anything about it.
Keys are never removed. revoked yes, but the same ke is never reissued. Humble or the dev would have to revoke the key. Checking Humble's policies though, they are not responsible for mishandled keys once they are generated.
There's a reason Humble doesn't automatically generate a key. YOu have to click. Get Steam key. Once they give you that key. It's your responsibility. Even if they revoke the key, they are unlikely to generate a new one free of cost.
Only time that happens is when they make an error in generating the key. In which case they will verify that they generated an invalid key. and issue a proper key. As said. They might be lenient but I highly doubt it.
Any other post is senseless.
To get xcom2 you have to activate the bundle
It's non refundable at that point
They can't get a refund as per Humbles policy
Yes because Humbles policy is clear
The bundle is non refundable period
I dont get it why you are so motivated to talk someone out of contacting support.
Because contacting support to answer a question that has already been answered only wastes their time and makes someone witha real issue wait longer. Next time you complain about the length of time support for these sites , like steam, take. Picture someone like the OP. Asking a question with an already stated answer.
Look at that, another special snowflake.
