Easily recovering a bought account?
Hey,
I know it is against the EULAs to buy/sell Steam accounts but I am just curious to see, if a seller sold their Steam account, and gave the password, the transaction went through successfully and everything, can't the seller just take back the account anytime they want? like they can just contact Steam Support saying their account got hijacked and give them a recent product key or the number of their card used on the account then they can reset the password to the email originally used on the account unknown to the buyer and easily get it back? even if you changed everything like email, removed card, changed payment method, you can still get back your Steam account easily right?

theoretically yes. that is when you should call your cc and do a chargeback yourself.

Yes, the seller can reclaim their account anytime.

Is there anyway to prevent this? or if it happened, what could you do?

buy a main and get a vac on it. decreases chance of the seller wanting it back.

Nope. Just as there's nothing preventing the buyer from issueing a chargeback after he's changed all the account details. Of course the seller has more power since even if the account info is changed. the username is always the same. and believe it or not, the original owner will be able to prove ownership via bank and credit card transaction statements.

If I change the email, phone number, payment method, update Steam Authenticator to my phone will the seller be able to get the account back?
If so, how would he?

Simple. He can prove he's the owner by providing valve with payment details. Credit card transaction statements, or similar.

Why would you buy an account in the first place when you know the account can just be recovered by the original owner?
If you buy an account and it gets recovered by the original owner, you deserve to be scammed.

Do NOT buy accounts as it's against the SSA for good reasons & like others have stated the original owner can always recover their account.
