Steam keeps refreshing store, home page and my profile (on steam client)
Like everytime i'm browsing store, community, home or my profile it just refreshes the page. Refresh happens only 1 time but it happens everytime i go to the store and above listed pages, like when i'm typing a comment on friends profile it just refreshes and then i need to write it again. It's so annoying, anyone might know how to fix it?

Something went wrong while displaying this content. Refresh

Delete Steam's web cache.

Test the issue again.

If the above doesn't work :
  • Close Steam
  • remove shortcuts to the Steam launcher from Start Menu, Desktop, Taskbar, Quicklaunch or where-ever you keep shortcuts.
  • manually remove (written for Windows, i do not know the equivalent for Linux or Mac)
    C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache\htmlcache
Note : this is a hidden folder, you need to set hidden folders to be visible in your OS settings.
  • Then restart Steam with steam.exe in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam or C:\Steam (or where you have Steam installed).

Thank you very much, both of you :)

I had the same issue and the above didn't work for me. I reinstalled Steam and did the above recommendations and it worked for the first boot-up, but it would constantly refresh after that.

I did some digging around in the files and looked for whatever is similar and messed around w/it.

I found this order worked for me:

1) Program Files or Program Files (x86)
2) Steam
3) steam
4) Cached

I closed Steam, then deleted every file in the Cached folder and restarted Steam. I logged back-in, then it stopped constantly refreshing; so if the above didn't work for you, hopefully this'll work for you.

Thank you both guys, after deleting the Cached folder it downloaded a few mbs but seems to be working now. Its a shame that Valve can't fix that or at least include it the general FAQ

* Open your Registry Editor (Windows > Run > RegEdit)
* Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
* Find the entry named Steam and add the parameters:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -silent -nochatui -nofriendsui

another fix is to update to BETA
