Why my country need to pay games at full price when Russia get it cheaper than everyone else?
Is my country richer than Russia or what? I just don't undertsand this. I get GTA V at full price but for Russia they get it less than the most poorest country in the entire planet and they're EUROPEAN?????

Should I move to Russia for the sake of Communism?

My geography is a bit rusty but im pretty sure Russia is a part of Asia...

To answer your question, your country probably has a higher tax on video gaming or it may cost Rockstar more to release the game there because of certain laws wich means having to make changes to the game to get passed.

There are many reasons but they are mostly govermental.

That does make sense. My goverment is corrupt but I'm still not sure why Russia get it so cheap.

I'm from Cambodia and I never heard any law regard digital copy. I can play piracy or do anything without being warn but does steam just ignore my country and count it as global regions?

Is there anyway or how does it work to ask steam to make regions lock on some country.

It's not only Russia but South America also get a cheaper deal which is rediculous. They're have a high GDP and much richer than my country and their goverment is no better than my government.

Thank for reply.

There is already region lock in place for some Games, People are just bypassing it by using a VPN which is of course against the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

It is rusted and corroded by the humid American air of ignorance.
The country spans across both Europe and Asia, with the Ural mountains separating the European and the Asian parts. Saying it's Asian is like saying that the US is located on the west coast of North America.

I think Steam "cares" about Russia more just because there are many more potential customers. So they do the whole price research and adjustment thing for that region. Also, I believe they had to significantly lower the prices to "compete"' with rampant piracy. If that's of any consolation, many games titles you would buy in Russia are region-locked and wouldn't work if you were to move abroad some day. Also, some games are simply unavailable.

I know it sucks and may seem unfair, but such is capitalism. I think they've been adding new price tiers for other countries lately, so maybe it will soon happen to Cambodia, too.

In all sincerity, however, you should get the best out of this unfairness by playing fewer games... you'll be happy you didn't squander that much time after a year or two.

People are judged on the Russian, but did not even know where it is
if at the time Russia has not sold a part of its territory, America would not haven Alaska and California - no Silicon Valley, no Hollywood, no Sikorski, Five great American writers of science fiction - all of them from families of migrants from the Russian Empire, etc.

And if earlier Russia did not support the young United States sending a navy to lift the blockade, there would not have America, especially the Great, simply would not be, it would be a few small seedy colonies only.

games NOT cheap in Russia - it's Myth

piracy depends on several factors:
economy level
level of corruption
the level of the legal system
the level of service: better service for about the same price offered by a party
localization level - if the license has a high-quality translation, customer buy it.
availability of alternatives
product quality
availability of demo or return function
localization of product pages as well as support pages, availability of translated FAQ
and so-called law-abiding

there are poor people, there is "ideological" pirates - they will never buy
all the rest - are potential buyers
You only need to make a REALLY quality product, and to provide quality service and sales support - I did not invent it himself, it's said Gabe Logan Newel

But it is hard, very hard.
It is much easier to say:
"These are Russian, they are ALL pirates, they all have a black three-cornered hat, a black eyepatch, pegleg, parrot swearing in bad language. Thats why our products is fail"
It's too hard admit to themselves:
"We, the developers have done a bad game We - the sellers provide defective and inconvenient service - require additional investment in order to simply buy and play."

Steam recent times removed russian language, even in those games where it was originally, then the choice is obvious :(
in the period from 2006 to 2013 there was a rise, Steam turned to face to us, brought the price corresponding to the level of the economy, began to do the localization... but last two years...

In Russia there is an anti-piracy laws
but as there is not enough rigorous enforcement of laws

Since the new year introduced a tax on the purchase of digital, and now the purchase on Steam will be very expensive, even with discounts

and although the level of income from the Russian players on Steam in 10th place, the number of users it is in second place

how many people from Cambodia to Steam? 0.1%?
what internet speed? what level of internet spread?

in Russia, because of the backlog in 1990-2005 is almost not exist old slow networks, 80% - a fiber built in the last 6 years other is adsl on phone lines and docsis

And the words that all Russian - Pirates, Hackers, etc. - this is a lie
Piracy was due to the crisis of the economy and the lack of able to buy licensed software
I was in the late 1990s went to another city, 1000 kilometers, to buy the program, becouse simply did not exist shops nearby.
