Will you get banned for buying steam gifts?
Will you get banned for buying steam gifts?
Or will they simply remove the bought game?

No but that's not the reason you shouldn't do it.

IF you decide to do it, you should never receive it as a gift.
You should only get it as a trade!
If you don't know the difference you should find out. Ask.

This because if it's a trade they can't chargeback the money and leave with no game and no refund.

The gift they try to sell you might not be tradable, that means it is risky since it was bought recently. (or maybe with an unverified payment method?)

Theoretically, you could get banned as it's against the Steam Subscriber Agreement.. However, it's unlikely that you would. That being said, it is ENTIRELY at your own risk. You run the risk of the gifts getting revoked, or of the gifts being region locked (or just fake). If you get scammed, support will not help you.

Edit: If you receive it in the trade window, it's much more likely to be fine -- you won't get banned for trades done within the trade window.

Selling Steam gifts is against the SSA, not buying them.

Let's say that i buy a game from Kinguin, i get buyer protection, i pay, then they send me an email with a link and when i click it someone adds me as a friend and gifts me a game.

Will i get bannend?

The safest way is to trade the gift for something in your inventory, like keys for cases.
This is the way gifts are supposed to be traded.

Don't do that since the gift can be revoked.

Keep in mind if it is csgo then you can't put it in your inventory.

Don't use that site at all, read why here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/2yhlw4/key_resellers_and_what_they_mean_for_you/
There is a reason that name is censored here.

You will probably not be banned, but if you get scammed, you'll have to take it up with "that site", as they are not an authorized reseller. Considering the site is filtered, that shows that users have had problems with them in the past (or it was spammed over the forums).

Check the site-name where you propose to buy. It's not the linkfilter but even the Steam Wordfilter that's used here to combat suspicious sites like that-one. So 1st of all do NOT buy games there.

furthermore, Steam trades like that usually are a SCAM. Don't fall for it.

Wrong. Please don't give incorrect information.
VAC bans for known cheat signatures active on the account when connecting to VAC secured servers.

You cannot get a VAC ban for gifting.

You can get banned from gifting that game again however if you gift to someone who cheated.

Probably what he was thinking of.

Start_Running Pickle and Forcen are about right. Don't gift to Ppl you do not trust for cheating. You'll not get a VAC or game ban but you can loose the ability to gift that specific game.

Additionally, if an account has directly gifted a game to other players who have been VAC or permanently Game Banned, then that account will lose the ability to gift that game.

Some more info you want to ponder :

Will I be punished if someone sharing my Library cheats?

Your Family Sharing privileges may be revoked and your account may also be VAC banned if your library is used by others to cheat. Additionally, VAC-banned games cannot be shared between accounts. We recommend you only authorize Steam Accounts and computers you know to be secure, and as always, never give out your password to anyone or share your account.

Use caution when installing any game modifications like scripts or custom skins, and only download custom content from trusted sources. Hackers may maliciously disguise their cheats to cause others to get banned.

How does a VAC ban affect my phone number?

VAC bans will be applied to all accounts sharing a phone number at the time of the infraction. Accounts that do not own the game the VAC ban is for will still receive a VAC ban and won't be able to purchase the game moving forward.

I am not planning on gifting anything to anybody, i am not a dirty socialist.

I want to know if i can get banned from buying a steam gift from sites like K!ngu!n and G2@, and if so then what are the odds?
