Fable 3 is not on Steam. I don't think it's ever been.

I don't think Fable lost chapters uses the GFWL, or ever did. neither does the anniversary edition.

Go back to MS and Xbox. The specific tweaks to get around GFWL tend to be specific to each game and how it was set up to integrate.

I ran into the same problem with a retail store brought copy - I was only intrested in the single player element but as it cannot be actvated it was effectively a defective product which I got a refund for along with explaning the problem to the personm behind the counter and reccomending that it be removed from the shelves.

The activation servers have been taken down so you cannot activate fable 3 unless you have already activated before thay were taken down. The only way to play the game as far as I know is by using piracy methods that I personally will not have anything to do with.

You don't own fable 3 on steam

I'm not sure what MS expects Steam to fix when you don't own the game on steam

Games for Windows live is up and running, you can activate new games and even play online. The only thing microsoft shut down was the Games for Windows Marketplace.

You can actually still play Fable 3 on Steam if you find a key.
The game can still be activated, downloaded and played if you own it.

Amazon sells them for example:

I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

What you've encountered is something called "unsupported software", which in a few years will be known as "abandonware" (pray not).

When games get old, they die off due to incompatibilities. A true tragedy, all the gems of games that will never ever be played again...
