Can You Still Get Badges When Playing Games On Family Share?
Steam achievements/cards, if I get achievements/cards playing on an account that is family shared but I am using my main accounts games, will I still get these cards on my main account?? I am pretty sure you only get achievements but no card stuff on a shared game using games from another account.

I am planning to only play CS:GO on my main account and all my other games I will play on this account since I found info to a 13 year old account that I have not logged in since 2005.

Family shared games will not drop cards. Your own games will (provided they support trading cards, and have drops left) even if you are sharing your library. You can get achievements through family sharing. Badges don't require you to even have played the game.

I thought you had to play a game to get the cards? Or do you just open it once to get the cards?

For paid games that support trading cards, you do need to run the game in order to make the cards drop. However you can purchase cards from the community market for games you do not own, and craft the badge for those games.

The game needs to run/idle until half a set of cards drop.

But you don't really need to do anything in the game itself in order for all the cards to drop for it rright? You just need to have it running? I hope so because then I can just send them to this account.

You only need the game running, yes. It may take a few hours depending on the game for the cards to drop. Also "all the cards" is only half as many cards as are in the set, rounded up.

But you really don't have to do anything in the game to get the cards? Seems weird that you just idle a game for hours to get all the cards for it.

Can anyone confirm this? It just seems a little farfetched to me, sitting in a game menu not doing anything in game to get all the cards for a game.

That works but you can do something better, play the game that way you get the cards and enjoy the game at the same time.

You can launch the game, sit at the game's menu and idle it for 2+ hours to start getting cards.

I think that depends if you've refunded games recently, my first Shadow of mordor card drop took around 20 mins.

No, that has nothing to do with it. The period is set by the games individual developer. Most stick to the 2 hours because of the refunds but not all. Generally speaking, stating the 2 hours as a general rule is the correct thing to do.
