Steam refuses to see my internet connection
Obviously I am connected to the internet but as of today Steam refuses to recognize this fact. Nothing has changed on my end. It keeps telling me to check my connection and won't launch.

you can check to make sure you don't have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ antivirus, think bitdefender, mcafee, anything that isn't kaspersky or avast pretty much, and https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711 enable the required ports/enable uPnP.

I found the list of allowed apps. It includes Steam, so the firewall is not blocking.

did you try rebooting?
Ribannah Jan 18, 2017 @ 10:26am
I have no antivirus software.

Yes, I rebooted. I have also reinstalled Steam.

I'd recommend seeking help on the https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ forums.

although it looks like you're logged in now?

only reason I didn't suggest this is because they already had net capability, if anything ipconfig /flushdns would be more useful.

None of your replies were in any way useful.

I was eventually able to bypass the problem by installing a second, identical version of Steam in another folder. Now I have to figure out how to delete the old folder.
