Getting a windows saying "Windows cannot find vcredist_x64/86.exe. Please make sure you typed in correctly"
When i go to run the launcher for elder scrolls online, i get 2 windows pop up. One says windows cannot find find vcredist_x64.exe. please make sure you typed the name correctly, then try again." and the other is the same thing except its vcredist_x86.exe. Do i need to reinstall steam or just give in and buy a program that scans and repairs? i tried reinstalling elder scrolls online but that didnt work. same with repairing the vcredist files. If I have to purchase a repair program, are there any preferred recommendations that are safe to use?

Sounds lik eyou're on a 32-bit OS and your game requires a 64-bit exe

what about ccleaner? says its from piriform but think i also needed a registration or something for that.
it is NOT a virus, it's just a ugly optimizer that removes "junk" - in the hands of a man, who does not understand that what he is doing, it is more dangerous, than grenade in the monkey's hands...
and command line & powershell too - power user can repair all... newbie can broken it completely...

ccleaner also has a free version, but you don't need it, unless you want to clean your temp files.

roguekiller seems to only get so far and then it shuts itself down, it finds about 10-12 things in the registry but doesn't give me a chance or option to do anything about them.

that's strange... you picked the right one for your system right? {either 32 or 64 bit depending on your bits}

the first one i tried said i was running 32 and would be better with 64, so im using the 64.

I have never seen this issue and not sure what to make of it; regardless, a malwarebytes anti-malware scan should help immensely.

but if your goal is just to make ESO work, it's the reinstallation of the correct vcredists. I'm just suggesting these other things because it sounds like you have atleast some malware/pups/pums

thx for all the help and suggestions. I no longer get that error saying cant find the vcredist files, things seem to be working as close to normal as it can get. I may need to look into my windows security to see if its blocking pop ups or something, when i click somewhere on a web page, just a regular blank space, to be able to scroll with the up and down arrows, i get pop ups from somewhere. If theres suggestions on pop up blockers or something useful like that, that'd be great, but for now thx for everything.

This is either from the website itself, or if it happens on every webpage, then you should get https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ and run this, see if it clears the problem up. I recommend https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en this adblock extension if you use chrome.
However, it's recommended you install https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/ before using adwcleaner, since in very rare cares, adware may have hijacked your proxy settings; if that happened then you run this after to fix all that, and you're good to go. [and you can even run malwarebytes antimalware again after RKill to see if any more malware was hiding]
