Is a 12KB/s download speed normal?

As the title state, I generally get between 10 and 12 KB/s download speeds. I read on the steam forums and other websites that people easily get 300+ KB/s. It would be nice to download a game in less that a couple of days.

-I have a moderate internet plan, and a really nice router.
-Even when I plug it in hardwire to my modem, it is about the same.
-I checked to make sure Steam wasn't throttling my connection.
-I looked through the list of programs that interfere with Steam, Discord is about all I have.
-Turned off my windows and webroot firewalls, at the same time. No change.
-Reset my routers.

Any ideas?

What does that site list your download speed as? 12KBs would be around 96kbs

I ran one a couple of weeks ago, and it worked then. Sames Steam download speed as it is now though.

Normal? Depends on where you are. At my university, I get speeds of 100MB/s or more. In the middle of Bumf---, Kansas? Probably pretty normal.

Steam download speed is suddenly really slow

So i am trying to download a game (Doom). And normally my download speed is around 20 mb but it is now under 1 MB. I have noo idea how to fix this can someone please help?
BTW this is my normal internet speed (http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6404867480) and i have an ethernet cable.

You need to switch the download server. Search the best one for you and the problem is solved.

I am connected with the server in my country but it my download speed still suck and if i choose the other ones make my download speed only worse

Steam download speed very slow.

I only have this problem with steam. Other platforms like origin are dowloading and updating games normally. I have to wait 3 hours to get a 500 mb update.

I'm having the same issue, my games are downloading at 500kb/s with a 100MB/s internet speed and a SSD.

When the disk is being used (green line) it probably means the game is installing/unpacking files. This can be really slow in my experience. You can try to restart Steam to see if it goes faster. Sadly there's not much you can do

Steam download speed tremendously decreased during summer sales !

My download speed decreased to 100-200 kb/s from 2.5-3 MB/s today and it was normal yesterday night. Tried changing download region but still same, is there anything I can do to download faster from steam ? I just bought Hitman and it is 40 GB and it says it is going to take 1 DAY + hours.

Same Problem here. Normally i can load with 20 mb/s now i am un der 20 kb/s. It is getting ridiculous. And Yes i cleared the cache and switched regions already.
