PS4 controller as... Ps4 controller?
The Steam Ps4 controller integration is great... but is there any way to just use the controller without shutting down steam? I cant find it

Think you need to use one of those. Steam's usage is fairly unique in that the client does the work.

Thanks, but no. That thing is only for if you dont have bluetooth, I have been using the controller for years. But because the popularity of DS4 is growing, quite a few games are including DS4 support - I was asking how the controller mapping can be used to map the DS4 buttons.

I did also manage to figure this problem out :);

1. Open the controller mapping menu.
2. Add new action set - The name does not matter.
3. Delete all action sets.

The controller map is now blank, and this means it acts as a ps4 controller.

EDIT: Oh.. it seems that doesn't work.. damn. Any help appreciated

Just hit "browse configurations" and then "templates" and pick "gamepad".

You can edit the desktop config if you want to use stuff outside of steam.

Go to Big Picture>Settings>Controllers>disable PS4 support.
You probably enabled this yourself to get this to work, disable to reverse.

lol - is this to get it to work with DS4?

otherwise it will only work with steam games. (but when it does it works for all added to steam)
If you want to control something that's not a game you use on Steam then you need to do this.

Like DS4 Windows? :? because currently that doesn't detect any controllers, whereas steam AND windows detects the PS4 controller -although steam thinks it's a PS3 controller.

Steam I think added an automatic thing that detects DS4windows and leaves the controller alone. You might have larger issues than that.

Check the steam controller forum or try fiddling with drivers or make sure you shut down ds4windows when using steam only.
